An oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment, particularly the marine ecosystem, as a result of human activities, and is classified as pollution. Oil spills can have severe economic, environmental, and societal implications. To remove the human impact and environmental damage caused by these oil spills, we develop an organic oil dispersion. When sprayed on the impacted water surface, a little response time renders the contaminant irreversibly transformed and non-hazardous.
Remediation, Not Transfer: Unlike other products and methods available in the market, ECO RED does not cover up or transfer hydrocarbons, it remediates them
ECO RED contains two active ingredients: solvents and surfactants. Solvents have an oleophilic affinity for oils and greases, whereas surfactants have a hydrophilic attraction for water. When these two components are sprayed on oil that can be dispersed, they act together.
It reduces the surface tension between the oil and the water, literally pulling the oil apart, allowing the oil to be dispersed into minute droplets (similar to the size of dust) in the water column. These droplets remain suspended below the surface, unable to resurface and coalesce into a slick. This accelerates the natural process of bacterial degradation, and dispersion, thus assisting the biodegradation of the oil in the environment
Organic Cleaner ECO RED is used in crisis and disaster management for long-term security and strategic storage. It retains its effectiveness over time and can be deployed directly in the case of an oil spill, whether onshore or offshore.
ECO RED can be diluted with both fresh water and seawater. It can be used undiluted or with a dilution of 1 part concentrate to 3 parts water, depending on the viscosity of the oil. For dispersant applications in open sea specialized spraying equipment and agitation by wave movement or mechanical means is required.
For cleaning applications, including vessel hulls and sea walls, apply ECO RED to the contaminated area and allow solution to be absorbed.
Clean off with high pressure, fresh or salt water. The application of heat to this final pressure rinsing will assist cleaning speed, performance and reduce chemical use.
